Here, you’ll find a selection of background wallpaper images, all designed to exactly fill the screen of a 5K Retina iMac, the high-end consumer Mac made by Apple. Fine on anything smaller too. ✮

The idea is simple: we offer images designed and sized to look great on a 5K screen. Some are free and others are nearly free. Every image you buy is also licensed for non-commercial royalty-free use, so go ahead and throw them in a layout or a video if you want. ✮

Unlike many desktop wallpaper sites on the web, we offer background-friendly images. Many great images (and awesome family photos) don’t work well as wallpaper, simply because there’s too much going on. With our backgrounds, you’ll always be able to see your desktop icons at a glance. Detail without distraction. ✮

Most of our pictures are created from original photos: some landscapes, some ultra-macro close-ups. We’ll also be including original digital art created in Photoshop, Illustrator, Motion, FCP X, or something else. However, the only “cheesecake” shots here will actually feature cheesecake. ✮

All our images are provided at 5120×2880, the native 16:9 resolution of the 27” iMac with 5K Retina screen. They’ll work on any smaller screens too. Not sure yet? Many sample images are available here for free, so try them out. ✮
